Jennifer Uno is a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney with first and doctoral degrees in engineering and considerable experience in the patent field both in the UK and Japan.
Jennifer joined the patent profession in 2001. She has significant experience working with a range of clients including large multinational companies and SMEs. Specialist technical areas include subsea technology, mechanical devices, medical devices, and apparatus incorporating aspects of physics or electrochemistry. Jennifer’s work includes drafting and prosecution of patent applications, advising clients in relation to filing strategy and portfolio management, and attending Opposition and Appeal hearings at the EPO.
She graduated with an honours degree in mining and mineral engineering from the University of Leeds in 1997. Staying in Leeds, she went on to complete a postgraduate study of electrochemical gas sensors to obtain her doctorate. After university, Jennifer joined a large firm of patent and trade mark attorneys in Osaka, Japan. She built up knowledge of patent prosecution in the US, Europe and Japan and went on to lead a team handling the patent prosecution for some major Japanese electronics companies. Daily practice often related to liquid crystal device and semiconductor related inventions.
Jennifer returned to the UK in 2004 where she joined a patent and trade mark private practice in London, joining the York office of HGF in 2008.
