Janet joined HGF on May 1st 2013 as a Partner.


Janet is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional and deals with transactional IP in relation to all IP rights, but particularly in the science and technology fields. Janet is one of a limited number of UK IP licensing professionals recommended by the international guide IAM 1000 - Guide to the World's Patent Practitioners (2016) and as an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property. Chambers UK has said she is admired for her 'knowledge, breadth of experience and thorough understanding of her clients' requirement' and respected for her ability to 'see solutions quickly and effectively'. 


Janet covers commercial life sciences transactions including their regulatory and IP implications. Her work ranges from early R&D phases and clinical trials to licensing, clinical and commercial manufacturing and supply and beyond. Her experience includes advising on: R&D, clinical trials and related CRO agreements; in-licensing; dossier and associated brand acquisitions.

She presented at the 2015 Synthetic Biology Congress and comments on pharmaceutical matters. Janet is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and on its Healthcare Committee, Company Secretary of Medilink and a member of a university ethics committee.


Her work with educational institutions ranges from IP policy issues to IP commercialisation, including many strategic IP and related issues such as establishing IP commercialisation arrangements with funders. Janet has prepared six Researcher’s Guides and an IP Workbook to act as a reference on key issues relating to IP and its commercialisation. In Legal 500's review of education sector legal advice she has scored 'a perfect 10'. Janet has presented on IP topics on many occasions for ASTP-Proton, PraxisUnico and AURIL (Association for University Research and Industry Links). 


Janet deals with brand licensing in various jurisdictions around the world, dealing with protections for quality control, royalty provisions and ethical issues, as well as co-branding deals. Janet has acted on multi-million pound disposals of international brand portfolios. She also deals with sponsorship and merchandising agreements as well as advising generally on advertising and sales promotions.
