IP-PorTal is a neutral and independent platform that publishes EU intellectual property case law, IP treaties, regulations and directives for IP-professionals and students.

Since the Unified Patent Court ("UPC") opened its doors in 2023, the focus has been on publishing UPC decisions in an organized manner, by listing them under the relevant provisions of the UPC Agreement, the Rules of Procedure, the Brussels Regulation and other relevant legislations. As of Q2 2026, this collection includes more than 1,300 UPC decisions.

The decisions are published in an efficient IPPT format, which consists of a summary of the most noteworthy findings as well as the full text of the decision with hyperlinks to cited decisions, applicable provisions of the UPC Agreement, the UPC Rules of Procedure, and other legislations.  Each case is assigned an easy-to-identify IPPT-number consisting of the year, month, and day of the judgment (IPPTyyyymmdd) followed by the names of the parties.

The site further contains an extensive collection consisting of all IP-decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union ("CJEU") from 1966 to the present and a selection of cases of the Enlarged Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office ("EBoA") and other judgments by leading international courts.

Cases are published indiscriminately, regardless of whether the case is acceptable to the parties or not. Selection of cases is based solely on the content of the case, which are relevant to the field of IP law. On the topic of anonymity, the rules of the General Court of the EU are followed.
